Interfaith Outreach
CBI is committed to engaging with our local community members of all faiths. We are an active participant in a various interfaith programs which foster friendship, education, and understanding among all faith groups.
This includes working closely with Peace Islands Institute (a Turkish Muslim group) to develop programs of interest that help us understand each other’s histories and practices and realize our many commonalities. We have also worked with their sister organization, Embrace Relief, on food and clothing drives to benefit all those in need within our local communities.
Rabbi Debra is a member of the Westwood Area Clergy Council, the Upper Pascack Valley Clergy Council (UPVCC), and the Rabbinical Assembly Task Force Against Human Trafficking. She also co-founded The Passover Project to help liberate enslaved people and end human trafficking.
CBI hosts an annual ‘Freedom Erev Shabbat’ every January on MLK weekend, and participates in the UPVCC’s Thanksgiving Service, which rotates locations every year.
