Time is flying by and there is so much to do. The High Holidays are behind us and we are moving rapidly into Hanukkah. I want to invite us all to slow down for a moment to capture this moment together - to remember what is important in our lives. Judaism, our faith, our CBI temple community, our family and friends are core to me, and I suspect for many of us. In contrast, our daily lives are filled with work, commuting, shopping, paying the bills, commitments and the minutiae of life often distract us from the essence of what we find important. There is a parallel to the inner workings of the temple where we focus on planning events and holiday celebrations.
The temple leadership, however, is working concurrently to strengthen our Membership, our Hebrew School and engaging our community. I hope this publication is an improvement that we can all be proud of and maybe serve as a gentle reminder to come to temple for an event that might make you happy or comforted and to be together. It is our collective responsibility to nurture this special place and make it stronger. We need your help in so many ways and am sure we can align your talents and interests.
Please reach out to the temple leadership and will be glad to speak with you to share your thoughts and ideas. The Cantor is currently taking a well deserved rest in the month of December 2024. And he’ll need the energy! When he returns the Cantor will be our spiritual leader while the Rabbi will be on sabbatical for the first six months of 2025.
Our clergical coverage for life events will be maintained in usual fashion. If there is a need to reach out to clergy, please call the office or email cantor@bisrael.com, or you can reach out to me at president@bisrael.com for further clarification. We want to wish both leaders refreshing sabbaticals and come back to us renewed with new energy and initiatives!
